I am looking at buying a wake skate but don’t know much about them. I am hoping you could give me a few pointers on what to look for in a board and where to buy. Me and a few mates took to using a skim-board behind the boat and calling that wake-skating but looking into the sport more there is much better apparel and boards designed out there for wake skating.

Some personal details to give you an idea of my size and my wake riding history…

I am 6”3 and about 80 kgs. I have been wake boarding for a few years and am confident with a board strapped to my feet. I surf, skate and snowboard so am confident with any board under my feet.

What size board should I look for? Length? Mid Width? Tip width? Weight?

What the difference riding a board with narrow tip compared to wide tip…. Narrow middle compared to wide middle…?

What construction should I look for to avoid warping and cracking..?

What’s the difference in riding a 3 stage rocker or a continuous rocker board?

Do most wake-skates come with fins? I have seen many different styles

What is the difference between a grip taped deck and an EVA top pad deck? Do you need to wear shoes/boots with both kinds? Is one style better/preffered than the other?

I Live on the Far North Coast NSW... know where i can buy 2nd hand boards or new..???
