Hi guys,

I am looking in to building winches as a side business and it looks like I can do a 9hp with TAV for around $1800 AUD, are their many interested parties out there or is this not worth my time? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Joel

i personally think there will be quite a big market for this in aus, considering the only other aus winch company charge nearly double that for a winch, and winching is were this sport is heading, so y not give it a crack!
Let people know about it and if people are keen then build to order to begin with, that way you aren't laying out money making a winch and then not have people buy it. How many winches have you made before dude?
I'm making the first one at the moment, getting the prototype clean then moving to a production model, the guy i'm working with builds portable drilling rigs and farm equipment for a living so i have the workshop for it. I can provide 19mm CVT's as well for $250+postage from Victoria if anyone is doing a build.
hey wats a cvt??? is it like a tav?
cheers

Torq-a-verter or TAV was a Model of CVT (constant variable transmission), I am getting in the same TAV2 clones that Bulletlines sell, I couldn't find them in Australia so decided to import them myself.
dude if you are selling 9hp winches for 1800 big ones you will definitely be selling them

go get em

post some pics dude i may have some customers for you

Yeah these are 19mm crankshaft models, I'm talking with GTC about stocking their 1" 1004 model , but the shipment of the 19mm TAV2 clones are on their way (I'll let you guys know when they come in).

Cheers,
Joel
19mm and 3/4 inch are the same thing on the motor hey. When building a winch you learn more imperial than metric cause thats where most of the hard to get stuff comes from, USA. Matty E i cant believe you dont have a tav on your winch it's the bees knees.
I've got the TAV2's in stock now, they're in the For Sale section.

Cheers,
Joel
hey definitely interested in acquiring a winch, have been looking around but the prices are just that bit out of my reach, will be following your progress with interest....in vic as well which is handy. good work man
