Hooked and want advice on buying a wakeskate!!!!!!

Guys,

I hired a wakeskate at Penrith cables Thursday and am now hooked.  I want to thank the guy who gave me so much help and to the guys at the cables what an awesome set up and really cool guys.

Question I am 85kgs on a good day and 6ft tall I rode the obrien fuse 103 it felt good when I got used to it but I have nothing to compare it to.  Any suggestions on a good board and size at a reasonable price and where to buy it fro.

Thanks

Dave

There is definitely no "wrong board" to get man, as you said you liked that board when you got used to it and thats the same as any other board (you will get used to it) I personally go for a nice solid wood concave board just because the little extra weight they have makes them a bit easier to handle. Go with what feels good i say.
Hey Dave, It was good to see you enjoying yourself so much at cable yesterday. I went back and rode today.
Was sooo much fun. No wind and no body :)

Every board you ride is going to feel a little different. So unless you ride a heap of boards, you wont know what is best for you. There's not many bad boards but there's a shite load of good boards. What I like you might hate. So its hard to give advice and everyone will have a different opinion.

Dean Butt (on this site) was selling his Integ. which is similar to my board but an 09. Don't know whether it's still for sale and he's in QLD but for the money, you couldn't go wrong.

Cheers,

I'm 5'11 and about 87kg I ride a wood concave 41. I can ride shorter boards with no problems. My advice would be, don't go bigger than 41 or 42, it will make it harder to spin shuv-it tricks.

As soon as you say you are learning most shops (in NZ anyway) will grab the longest skate off the rack and try and sell that to you.
I noticed sizes on brands take an effect too. Im like short as, being 160cm or something and only 50kg. For example I had a 39 Byerly legacy and wasnt the biggest fan, didnt feel big enough just because of the design of the deck, yet then i ride my mates 38 integrity and it feels way bigger. Anyway I ended up getting a 40 integrity because the 38 felt too light for me (made from 3 ply bamboo) and i like the weight in the 40 (made from 9 ply hardwood).

One other thing to remember its all personal preference, two of the best skaters in the sport ride the opposite spectrum of boards, nick taylor with his 38 integrity tnt (being really light), and reed hansen with his ronix zariel 42 bi level (being the heaviest skate out).
