It's that time of year again! After a hugely successful first year, 2K Jam - the Sydney wakeskate ride weekend - is back, and we haven't changed a thing.
2K takes place this year from Friday 6th May to Sunday 8th May. Friday sees us start at 10am when the Cable Park in Penrith opens for riding. We'll be here all day and staying in the accommodation onsite at Cables Friday night.
Saturday we will head to Pitt Town where we will ride boat and tinny from the beach. Saturday night the feed is on us and that night we're camping on the waters edge.
Sunday has been set aside for winching, but we will see in the morning if everyone wants to keep riding on the river or even head back to Cables.
This is by far the most chilled wakeskate event we run - there are no competitions and no winners. We do have a bunch of giveaways though from Obscura Wakeskates, DVS Shoes and I Ride Sideways plus a few other goodies.
The cost for the 3 days is only $150 (for early bird registrations) or $170 if you pay on the day. This covers your riding at Cables on Friday, accommodation on Friday night, Tinny / Boat riding on Saturday and Dinner Saturday night. It does not include your food and alcohol for the 3 days, and if we end up riding cable or boat on the Sunday each rider will need to throw in for that (if we do do that everyone can either pay direct to cables or the boat owners). If you are a member of Cables, not staying with us on the Friday night, one of the boat owners, not having dinner with us or not camping with us on Saturday night but still want to be a part of 2K Jam you can pay a discounted rate. We have broken the costs down so just be sure to let us know when you register and we'll confirm your cost.
As much as some people might think they can hang with us and not pay anything - it won't be the case. All of the money made from 2K Jam goes into making it a better weekend, and if there's any left it might even go towards beer - but when everyone else is paying to be part of such a good event, don't be a dick and think you're special by not registering or paying.
We will also once again have the honour of the presence of Dr Brett Hemmings - the award-winning photographer that got us that awesome cover on Wake mag last year. We will also have at least one videographer filming the weekend, which we will be using for the all-Australian wakeskate DVD. There are a few media outlets running articles on the weekend so bring your pretty face.
To register for 2K Jam 2011 - email paul@wakeskate.com.au with your name and I'll reply with some details to lock you in. Any questions ask below.. Stoked!

Permalink Reply by munners on April 21, 2011 at 7:33pm Yo everyone we are looking to mix it up a bit. The unbelievably sick surf, skate, wake, snow, music, art, culture magazine Trunk Junk Quarterly are having the launch party for their 2nd issue on the Saturday night of 2K Jam. This issue features an article on wakeskating with photos of riders that will all be at 2K..
The few people I have spoken to are keen as mustard to incorporate an attendance of this fine event into the 2K schedule, and I agree. So.. this is what we are thinking: I have worked it out so that it shouldn't affect anyone and no one can complain because there is also a backup option.
Here is the new schedule for 2K:
Friday morning - arrive at Cables Penrith and skate all day
Friday arvo - head out to Pitt Town and set up camp. Chill by the river and have pizza and a fire - chilled night.
Sat Morning - get up and ride tinny and boat all day
Sat arvo - we head back to cables, get ready for the night and then mini-bus it from Penrith to the Northern Beaches for the Trunk Junk launch party. The party goes from 7pm til midnight and after that we will jump on the mini-bus and head back to Penrith.
Sat night we then stay in the cabins at Penrith.
This then means we can get up Sunday and anyone who wants to can ride cable and anyone who wants to winch can do that too.
On the Saturday night anyone who might not want to come to the launch party can stay at cables and hang at the cabins, panthers leagues club, maccas, krispy kreme, or wherever you want.
There will be limited spaces on the mini-bus and it will be a case of first in best dressed. I will also have to split the cost of the mini-bus across everyone that is using it but it shouldn't be much and I'll put that in the return emails to people as they register and book their spot.
So... email me on paul@wakeskate.com.au and book your spot asap. Your spot won't be confirmed until you pay so even if you register first but don't pay until the day you might lose your spot on the bus. If the bus fills up some people might car pool but obviously we want to minimise the amount of drivers that have to head out there.
Can't wait - it's going to be a sick few days...
